Terms of Service

Effective date: September 30, 2026

1. Who we are

ByeBouncer (“ByeBouncer”, “we”, “us”) is an email, IP and phone verification service operated as a sole proprietorship from Argentina by Fidel (contact: hello@byebouncer.com). The service is offered through the API hosted at api.byebouncer.com and the dashboard at byebouncer.com.

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd. (“Paddle”), our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles VAT, sales tax, and equivalent regional taxes according to the buyer's jurisdiction.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, using the API, or purchasing credits, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into contracts in your jurisdiction. If you use ByeBouncer on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

3. The service

ByeBouncer provides a real-time email verification API. Given an email address, we return a machine-readable verdict about whether the address is deliverable, based on syntax checks, DNS/MX resolution, domain intelligence (disposable / free provider / role account classification), and SMTP mailbox probing without sending any message.

Verification results are advisory. Email deliverability depends on the recipient mailserver's configuration and behavior at the moment of a real send. Common reasons a verified address may still bounce include: recipient greylisting, catch-all domains, mailbox creation between our check and your send, and recipient anti-spam filters. We do not guarantee delivery of email based on our verdicts.

The IP verification API analyzes public IP addresses using network registration data, reverse DNS, Tor exit-node data, and third-party DNS blocklists. Its score and risk classification are informational snapshots, may change as external datasets change, and do not prove that an address or its operator is malicious, safe, or trustworthy.

The phone validation API checks a phone number against numbering-plan rules and returns its normalized format, country, line type and, when available, the carrier, together with a lead-quality verdict and score. The WhatsApp field is a probabilistic estimate based on line type and region; we do not query WhatsApp or Meta. A valid format does not confirm that a line is active or that it belongs to the person who supplied it.

Optionally, you can request the live line status of a mobile number (by sending live: true with a phone or lead verification, by calling the live line status endpoint, or by using the matching option in the dashboard). This queries the mobile network, through a third-party provider, to report whether the line is currently registered and reachable, whether it has been ported to another operator, and whether it is roaming. The query does not place a call or send a message to the subscriber. “Connected” means registered on the network at that moment; it does not mean the person will answer or that the number belongs to them. A device that is switched off or out of coverage is reported as absent, which is not the same as an invalid number. Coverage and accuracy vary by country and operator, and a result may be unavailable or inconclusive.

The combined lead endpoint returns a verdict derived from the individual results using fixed rules. It is a recommendation, not a decision about any person, and you remain responsible for how you use it. Results that depend on third-party data (carrier lookup, live line status, DNS blocklists) are provided without any guarantee of accuracy, coverage or availability.

4. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials, API keys, and dashboard password confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account or API keys, including activity from third parties to whom you disclose your credentials.

Notify us immediately at hello@byebouncer.com if you suspect any unauthorized access. You can revoke individual API keys from the dashboard at any time.

5. Credits and billing

Access to the API is metered in credits. A non-cached email verification consumes 1 credit; email cache hits within the 1-hour window are free. An IP verification consumes 1 credit when the submitted address is a valid, publicly routable IP. Private, reserved, loopback, link-local, CGNAT, and otherwise non-routable addresses are not charged. A phone validation consumes the phone credit cost shown in our pricing table (currently 1 credit) when the number has a valid format and the result is not already cached; invalid numbers, numbers on your own blacklist, cached results, and lookups that fail because a provider is unavailable are not charged. Credits are sold in fixed packs (S, M, L, XL) through the Paddle checkout in the dashboard.

Live line status is an optional add-on with its own price (currently 30 credits per query), published in the pricing table on byebouncer.com and shown in the dashboard before you run it. It is charged only when the mobile network returns a conclusive answer (connected, absent or unknown). It is not charged for invalid numbers, fixed or VoIP lines, numbers on your blacklist, results served from our short cache (a few minutes), or when the network cannot be reached. When you request live status together with a standard phone or lead query, both are charged. The number of credits each type of query consumes may change under Section 12.

Bulk jobs reserve credits when accepted. When a bulk job completes or is cancelled, credits reserved for entries that were not processed or are not chargeable (for example non-routable IP addresses) are returned automatically.

  • Credits do not expire.
  • Credits are non-transferable between accounts.
  • Prices are shown in USD. Local taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) are added by Paddle at checkout based on your billing country.
  • New accounts receive a starter credit grant (see the dashboard for the current amount) for evaluation. Starter credits are granted once per user.

6. Refunds

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In short: unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase for buyers in the European Union (per EU Consumer Rights Directive). Outside the EU, refunds are considered case-by-case at our discretion within 14 days of purchase, with priority given to proven billing errors.

7. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use ByeBouncer to:

  • Verify email addresses obtained through data breaches, credential stuffing, illegal scraping in violation of the source site's terms, or any illegal source.
  • Build or enrich mailing lists for unsolicited bulk email (spam), regardless of local law. Even where legal, spam damages the recipient mailserver reputation of everyone in the SMTP verification ecosystem and is against the purpose of this service.
  • Harass, dox, stalk, or otherwise attempt to identify individuals from their email addresses.
  • Use IP reputation results to facilitate unauthorized access, scanning, surveillance, harassment, or attacks against networks or individuals.
  • Use phone validation or live line status to locate, track, harass, stalk, or surveil individuals, or to place unsolicited calls, SMS, or messaging-app messages in violation of applicable law.
  • Circumvent rate limits, share a single account across multiple end businesses without contacting us for a proper multi-tenant arrangement, or reverse-engineer our detection logic to bypass it.
  • Resell the raw API output as a competing verification service without a separate written agreement with us.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, without refund for credits consumed prior to termination. We may cooperate with law enforcement where legally required.

8. Data you send us

When you submit an email address for verification, we process it to produce a result and to bill your credit balance. We do not store the plaintext email address after individual processing: verification records retain a SHA-256 digest of the normalized email and the domain portion. Bulk jobs temporarily retain their input and result file so you can download the output, as described in our Privacy Policy.

When you submit an IP address, we normalize it and use it to obtain the requested network and reputation result. For a charged individual verification, the verification record stores a keyed HMAC of the normalized IP together with the result metadata, not the submitted IP in plaintext. Non-routable IPs are not persisted as verification records. IP bulk inputs and result files follow the temporary bulk retention described in the Privacy Policy.

When you submit a phone number, we normalize it to E.164 and use it to produce the requested result. To obtain carrier information we send the number to our carrier-lookup provider and, only if you request live line status, to our live line status provider (both listed in the Privacy Policy). Individual verification records store a keyed HMAC of the normalized number and result metadata (country, line type, carrier, verdict, score, network status), not the number in plaintext. We do not request or store subscriber identifiers such as the IMSI. Phone bulk inputs and result files, which may include normalized numbers, follow the temporary bulk retention described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for ensuring you have a lawful basis (consent, contract, legitimate interest, etc.) to submit email addresses, IP addresses, or phone numbers to us for verification under applicable data protection law (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, etc.).

9. Service availability

We target high availability but do not guarantee uptime. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may perform maintenance, upgrades, and configuration changes that briefly interrupt the service. Live status is published at byebouncer.com/status.

Features that rely on third-party providers, such as carrier lookup and live line status, may be unavailable or degraded when those providers are. In that case the affected query is not charged.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ByeBouncer's aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold ByeBouncer harmless from any third-party claim arising out of your use of the service in violation of these Terms or of applicable law, including reasonable attorneys' fees.

12. Changes to the service and to these terms

We may modify the service (features, pricing, limits) and update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email to the account owner and on the dashboard at least 15 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may terminate an account for violation of these Terms, non-payment of chargeback disputes, or extended inactivity (24 months with no activity), with reasonable notice where feasible.

On termination: your API keys are revoked, verification records are deleted per the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy, and unused credits are refundable only where required by law.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Argentina, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, except that consumers in the European Union may invoke the mandatory protections and venues of their country of residence.
